I get no text or enlarged text in the menus and in weapon description in Rogue Spear but I don't know which chipset is on my video card in my system.

Contact the manufacturer of your video card for information on the chipset of your video card. With this information, visit the chipset company's website for the latest available reference drivers. (For example, if you have an STB Velocity 128, then you have an Nvidia Riva 128 based chipset. With this information, visit www.nvidia.com for the latest reference drivers for this card.)

I get no sound or choppy sound when running Rogue Spear

This could be one of three issues.

  1. Use the configure Rogue Spear program (found in your start menu under Start-programs-Red Storm Entertainment-Rogue Spear-Configure Rogue Spear) to select the sound card installed in your system from the drop down menu beside sound card.
  2. If you have a Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live sound card, first make sure you have downloaded and installed the most recent drivers from www.soundblaster.com. There have been reported problems with these drivers and Direct X 6.1, so visit www.microsoft.com/directx to download and install Direct X 7.
  3. For all other sound cards, visit the sound card manufacturer's website for information on downloading and installing the latest 100% Direct X compatible sound card drivers. After installing the updated sound card drivers, reinstall direct x by exploring the Rogue Spear CD for the Direct X folder, then run dxsetup.exe.

I have a supported 3D accelerator, and I am experiencing short pauses every few seconds during the action phase. why?

Uncheck "action music" in the sound section of the Options menu.

I can't bind keys to the buttons of my Logitech mouse.

The Logitech mouse drivers do not report their mouse wheel events to DirectInput in the correct manner. If you have a Microsoft mouse and get a "WHEEL UP" event every time you try to remap the keys and are using the Logitech drivers, switch to the Microsoft drivers. If you have a Logitech mouse, you should contact Logitech for assistance.

The demo crashes after clicking the Rogue Spear icon on my start menu with a General Protection Fault.

Make sure you are using Direct X 6.1, available for download at www.microsoft.com/directx.
